Calling all Lonely Hearts!

Each February, Nomadic Knits hosts a short-and-sweet Knit-Along to celebrate our favorite thing: knitting pals. We call it Lonely Hearts Club, and it exists for anyone who enjoys a cozy project and good company.

Lonely Hearts Club began in 2021, almost one full year into the pandemic. Cautiously hopeful, we turned to our favorite source of comfort: knitting. It was so much fun knocking out a super fast project with our favorite knit-friends (that's you!) over Valentine’s week that we decided to make it an annual tradition. Here we are in year six and I can't wait to do it all over again! 

After the joyful chaos that is the Twelve Days of Knitmas MKAL, I think of Lonely Hearts Club as a palette cleanser. A short burst of knitting that produces a fantastic hat; perfect for gifting or keeping. 

Welcome to the Lonely Hearts Club KAL. 💘

What is a KAL?

A Knit-Along (KAL) is a shared knitting experience where we work on the same project(s) during a specified time. It’s part making, part learning, part hanging out with our knitting besties. There’s no pressure to be fast or perfect. Showing up and having fun is what matters. 

Who is this KAL for?

Lonely Hearts Club is for knitters of all levels. If you’re comfortable with the basics - casting on, knitting, purling, and reading a pattern - you’re good to go! Whether this is your first KAL or your fiftieth, you've come to the right place. 😉

When do we start?

The #LonelyHeartsClubKAL runs from February 14th - 21st.

You can knit along using any Lonely Hearts Club hat pattern, including this year’s brand-new design. The full 2026 pattern will be released on February 7 and is available for purchase on NomadicKnits.com and Ravelry.

$1 from every Lonely Hearts Club pattern purchase and $5 from every Lonely Hearts Club Kit purchase will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association.*

What are we knitting?

The 2026 Lonely Hearts Club pattern is a two-color mosaic hat, and is available in four different sizes.

Detailed instructions provide options for two different cast-ons and length modifications.

The pattern PDF contains links to video tutorials to guide you through the different techniques used, including a thorough introduction to mosaic knitting in the round. 

Prefer a classic? You’re also welcome to knit any previous Lonely Hearts Club pattern from past years.

Are kits available?

Yes! ✨

Lonely Hearts Club Kits are available in several color combinations - choose the kit(s) that makes your heart happy. 😊

Each kit includes:

• Two full skeins of Lazy Bee Clover DK

• Lonely Hearts Club swag, featuring fun, useful knitting goodies

• USPS Priority Shipping 

This year's Lonely Hearts Club Kits will also work for four of the previous Lonely Hearts Club patterns.

Where are we hanging out?

Most of the action takes place in our Facebook and Ravelry groups. If you use Instagram, use #lonelyheartsclubkal to share your project and to search for other folks who are knitting along.

If you're a Ravelry user, I’d be thrilled if you showed the pattern some love by favoriting it and creating a project page! It helps more knitters see the pattern so they can join in. It's also a great source of inspiration for folks looking for color combinations or modifications.
